Knowing that we were moving here for only a year, due to work requirements, helped prioritize our focus. My wife and I were concerned about providing a supportive school and social interaction for our soon to be 8 year-old. Going from a Liberal Southern Californian enviroment, to a Conservative East Kansas was signifigant.
We did our reseach of the school sytems in the area, including phone calls and found what we needed in the Lansing School District. They were very understanding, supportive, and going out of their way to assit in our transition. There are several housing developments, which are fairly middle-aged if not older communities. The people are definitly laid back, but enjoy the perks of modern citylife with outer limits of Kansas City only about 15 miles away.
The availability of jobs in the State, Federal, and Private sectors abundant in the area - the area is accustomed to the influx of people to and fro. And the climate considerably moderate, the warm &
