Haverhill, Massachusetts is a small city located in Essex County, with a population of approximately 63,000 residents. It is situated on the Merrimack River and offers residents a suburban feel with a mix of historic charm and modern conveniences. The city has a diverse community and a strong school system, making it an attractive location for families. However, like any place, it has its positives and negatives, as seen in the various user reviews on BestPlaces.net.

According to JohnH, who has lived in Haverhill for 20 years, "The city has a great downtown area with plenty of local shops and restaurants. But the traffic can be unbearable during rush hour." Similarly, JodiB states, "I love the community feel of Haverhill. People are friendly and there are always events happening in the city. However, housing prices are on the rise, making it difficult for some families to afford living here." These reviews highlight the positives and negatives of Haverhill, with its small-town charm and growing traffic and housing concerns.

Another reviewer, SteveS, has a different perspective. He says, "I've lived in various cities in Massachusetts and Haverhill by far has the most affordable cost of living. The schools are also top-notch and the crime rate is low." This speaks to the affordability and safety of the city, which may be appealing to those looking for a more budget-friendly option.

On the other hand, JulieM expresses some concerns about the city's job market. She writes, "Finding employment in Haverhill can be challenging. There aren't many major corporations or large companies located here. Most people commute to nearby cities for work." This review sheds light on the job opportunities or lack thereof in Haverhill, which could be a factor for those considering moving to the city.

In summary, the user reviews on BestPlaces.net paint a picture of Haverhill, Massachusetts as a charming and friendly community with a strong sense of community and top-rated schools. However, it also has its challenges such as traffic, rising housing costs, and limited job opportunities. Ultimately, each individual's experience of living in Haverhill may vary, but these reviews provide valuable insights for those considering calling this city home.

Could Be Better Could Be Worse - 5/13/2022
Haverhill is a historic mill city. The overall vibe is working class. It has some charm throughout. It has some crime and pockets of low end, rundown areas but generally it is a decent city. Some highlights are its commuter rail, close proximity to Boston, to tax free NH, and to beaches. Housing prices are fairly decent when compared to other nearby cities like North Andover, Andover, Boxford, Georgetown, Amesbury, Newburyport. It still falls short of being as quaint as some of those smaller towns but it could be a lot worse. Some downsides are noise levels (if close to major roads), congested traffic near downtown area, and the quality of some schools. Read More
