Old Houses - 12/3/2008
Sharon has many lovely old houses. The area was thriving in the early 1900's, and many of the old houses date from that time period. The city of Sharon merges with the surrounding cities of Hermitage, Sharpsville, Farrell,and uniquely crosses over states. At Stateline Road, one side of the street is in Pennsylvania, the other side is in Ohio. The West Hill area of Sharon was the place to live early on, and the houses there have a wonderful view down a steep hill, towards downtown, and up towards Hermitage. Anywhere else, it would be million $ view, but sadly the economy has continued to slide, and the West Hill is no longer the choicest area to live. There are lots of victorian, stick style, cottage style houses throughout Sharon. When I moved here, almost 30 years ago, I was delighted to be able to buy a house, victorian syle,in the" new" east side of town, newly developed in 1902 that is, still with the original wood siding and woodwork inside.
