What BestPlaces Users Say about Oxford

Oxford, Connecticut is a small town located in the western part of the state. It has a population of around 13,000 people and is known for its rural charm and strong community spirit. The town boasts a low crime rate and highly-rated public schools, making it an attractive option for families. However, it also has its fair share of drawbacks, such as limited job opportunities and a lack of diversity. Here are four excerpts from user reviews on BestPlaces.net that provide insights into what it's like to live in Oxford.

1. "I absolutely love living in Oxford. The small town feel and tight-knit community make it a great place to raise a family. The schools are top-notch and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. However, job opportunities are limited and the cost of living is a bit high." - SarahS

2. "I've lived in Oxford my whole life and have seen it change drastically. The town has become more developed, which has its benefits, but also brings more traffic and crowds. The biggest downside for me is the lack of diversity. It's a very homogenous community." - JohnDoe

3. "I moved to Oxford a few years ago for work and have fallen in love with this town. The people are friendly and welcoming, and the sense of community is strong. It's also a great location, close to bigger cities but still has that small-town charm." - Newcomer123

4. "I grew up in Oxford and couldn't wait to leave. The lack of things to do for young people and the close-mindedness of the community made me feel suffocated. It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here again." - JenBee

Overall, the reviews on BestPlaces.net suggest that Oxford, Connecticut is a great place to raise a family and enjoy a tight-knit community. However, it may not be the best fit for everyone, as job opportunities are limited and the lack of diversity can be a downside for some. It seems to be a popular choice for those looking for a quieter, more rural lifestyle, but may not be the best fit for young adults or those seeking more diversity and career opportunities.

Read the overview and disagree - 3/29/2015
The overview of Oxford seems odd to me as it lists, as part of the cons, areas of urban decay. Not sure how, where or what they were looking at. Oxford was once a farming community which is about as rural as anyplace in the state. Unless you look at the two store fronts for rent, the community fared better than most areas losing very little relative property value during the ongoing housing crash and has managed to retain it's rural appeal.

As with any town, there are issues but "areas of urban decay" isn't one of Read More

Oxford is a lovely town but offers little to no service and taxes it's residents out of their homes. Too bad because it wasn't always that way but the current political party is more interested in re-election...too bad there won't be anyone left to pay the Read More
