Even though I've left the Chicago area to move out west, I won't forget about where I was born & raised - Home Sweet Homewood!
As part of the oft-overlooked Southern Suburbs of Chicago - Homewood has lots to offer at bargain basement prices for Chicago. It's easy to forget that you are but a 35-40 min Metra Electric train ride from the city center when you're paying $200,000 or less for 2,000 sqft homes! Granted, these aren't brand new, but they are good quality 1950's or earlier housing stock with wood floors, trims and charcter.
But price alone isn't the reason Homewood is so special - it's one of the few Chicago 'burbs left that has a downtown with great shops, restaurants, and energy. It's great to see that since I lived there 10 years ago - it's only gotten better.
