What BestPlaces Users Say about Pittsboro
Pittsboro is a small town located in central North Carolina, known for its picturesque landscape, rich history, and strong sense of community. Despite its small size, Pittsboro has become a popular destination for those seeking a more relaxed and laid-back lifestyle. With this in mind, let's take a look at what some users have to say about living in this charming town.
According to JohnD, "Pittsboro is a hidden gem in North Carolina. It's a small town with a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of local events to keep you entertained. The cost of living is also very reasonable, making it a great place to raise a family."
On the other hand, SarahG has a different perspective, stating, "I moved to Pittsboro from a big city and it took some getting used to. While it's a beautiful town, it can feel a bit isolated at times. However, the sense of community here is unlike anything I've experienced before."
Another user, TomW, shares their experience of living in Pittsboro for over 10 years. "Pittsboro has a rich history and strong community values that have remained intact over the years. There's always something new to discover here, whether it's a hidden local restaurant or a scenic hiking trail."
However, not all reviews about Pittsboro are positive. According to LisaM, "While Pittsboro has its charm, there are some downsides to living here. The traffic can be unbearable at times, especially during rush hour. There's also a lack of diversity in the town, which can be isolating for some individuals."
Overall, it seems that Pittsboro offers a unique lifestyle with a strong sense of community and affordable living. However, some may find it lacking in certain areas, such as diversity and accessibility. It ultimately comes down to personal preference and priorities when considering living in this particular place.

The town has a great library, parks, history museum and lots of community involvement.
Fantastic access to UNC and Duke healthcare. The school system is excellent with private school access, too.

Pittsboro is not the place for Conservatives - 2/11/2021
I lived in Pittsboro for 12 years. The topography is beautiful, rolling green hills. The weather is ok with occasional snow, but mostly mild climate. It can get pretty hot in the summer. The location, about equal distance from mountains and beaches, is perfect. Also ready access to the lake is great. The politics suck. The Yankees have found the place and with a few notable exceptions, they have drought their liberal politics with them. If you are conservative, you will not be comfortable there. I loved my home there but became so distressed over the politics, we sold out and moved to Alabama. The story is very old, as a conservative, if I don鈥檛 like something, I don鈥檛 involve myself. Whereas, if the liberals don鈥檛 like something, then it has to be eliminated! Conservative? Try Alabama, you鈥檒l like it much better. If you were born and raised in Dixie, you鈥檒l be very uncomfortable

Pittsboro and Chatham County Economy - 6/3/2010
For the most part, Pittsboro and Chatham County consist of 3 basic areas; Northeast Chatham, Pittsboro, and Western Chatham. These three distinct areas though part of the same County are in some instances vastly different from each other, economically, demographically, and in terms of market breakdown.
The Northeastern Chatham area has part of it's population in Pittsboro and part in Chapel Hill, which is actually located in Orange County. For some, a Chapel Hill address is more desirable. This area consist mainly of residential, with little if any commercial with the exception of the Cole Park Plaza area near the Chatham/Orange County line where some retail, restaurant, and grocer stores are located. Most of the residents commute to work in the University, Medical, or companies in Research Triangle Park. The County as a whole is pretty much a bedroom community, much like Cary was 30 years ago.
The area boast the highest percentage of high end housing

pocket of liberals in a red state - 12/26/2007
I live in Chatham County, just outside of Chapel Hill. It is an area with a definite liberal slant politically. It has the flavor of Chapel Hill/Carrboro as more people are moving this way to get more house for the money than you can "in town."
The drawbacks are the long commute & the wildlife, as in copperhead snakes & ticks galore. Wish I knew that previously. Goes along with the climate, which is also a drawback, in my
