Clyde is small city in eastern Sandusky County. Not a great deal to do in Clyde. They do have some decent parks but if you wish to dine, go shopping or see a movie you will need to go elsewhere. Lake Erie is approximately 30 miles to the north. Cedar Point amusement park is about the same distance and is in Sandusky. Whirlpool Corporation manufactures washing machines in Clyde and is not only the largest employer in the city but also the county.
Sherwood Anderson, the author of Winesburg Ohio was from Clyde and wrote of the travails of living in a small town in so far as everyone keeping up with others actions. Most other notables from Clyde have to do with military matters. Gen James McPherson and Pvt. Roger
