Surprised

Having recently visited Citrus County in West Central Florida I was surprised by two characteristics that I had not expected.
1- the cost of living, (food, gas-fuel, restaurants, etc) was as high as it is in the New York City suburbs where I live. Which means it must be nearly as high as it gets. Though of course monthly heating bills would be significantly lower.
2- the areas surrounding the various and beautiful 'planned' communities were what seemed to be a continual row of older, sometimes neglected, small commercial business'- not at ALL attractive. Not sure if the 'planned' growth will be altering this look or just feeding it.
