Review of Garden Grove, California

Quality of Life Sliding
Star Rating - 8/8/2006
I have live in Garden Grove for over 40 years so I feel I am more than qualified to comment on the quality of life here..It used to be the best place in So. Ca. to live..Open spaces, little traffic, great roads, nice neighborhoods, great neighbors.. This has drastically changed since the mid 70's. The influx of Asians and Hispanics has resulted in major overcrowding, road jams 24/7, housing prices out of sight, neighbors that want to continue with their style of living from the country they came from, will not adapt to American ways or abide by our laws. After meditating on the poor living conditions now in So. Ca., I have decided it is time to leave for a place that still have the old American values. Anyone who moves into this area will find that the quality of live here is poor..Housing and streets that were originally built to accomadate single family situations now has 4, 5 or more families living in one house, 5,6, 7 cars parked in the streets for each house also that is housing more than one family..You cannot really blame the people for looking for a better life, but you would want them to adapt to our way of life and not ruin our standard of living..This is only the tip of the iceburg..Politicans want more tax money so high rise buildings are now the thing. If you think traffic conditions, crowding is bad now, just wait a couple more years..This is another Hong Kong, Singapore situation in the making in so far as number of people per sq. mile..

I've lived in GG for 58 years.. The best times of my life were the 70s & 80s and 90s. But there has been an influx of immigrants from all over the world that have to come to OC. Just to many people equals crime, homeless, graffiti, trash, violence. Gone are the days where you could walk around with your girlfriends when you were 15 til midnight on the streets. Gone are the days where in elementary school all the kids on the block would be playing some sort of game outside. The late 70s you'd drive around with friends and ask other teens you didn't know where the party was. There were always parties at random peoples house with live bands in backyard. No fights, no weapons just a bunch of teenagers having a great time. I told a girl at work about this she is 24 and couldn't believe it was once like this. There use to be big and small frogs all over the place now nothing but a lot of mosquito bites..lol Now it's so over crowded with to many people that have immigrated over here. I just wish they wouldn't let anymore people in the USA for at least 5 years no more exceptions. But I will always have these wonderful memories that I suppose most people didn't have during that time period. Wish we could go back to the 70's and start over again. The thing with OC is you can't beat the weather that's for sure.
