My Town

Minooka, IL is a formally rural based, agricultural town, 54 miles southwest of Chicago. In the past 10 years, as housing costs have increased, the town has grown from 1500 people to 7000 +. The economic downturn has actually helped the community by allowing the growth to slow and school populations to settle. Minooka is generally a traditional middle class town. One downfall, I believe, is the excess of Section 8 housing creating an environment for crime.
