We have only lived here 9 years, and, are very disappointed with the problems that seem to plague this "little village." The City government is basically run by the "GOOD OLE BOY" system. As in most "little Village's" there are those behind the scenes who seem to guide and shape the course the "little village" will take, most of which has been at great expense to the taxpayer's. We have the highest sales tax rate in the area, housing prices are inflated, real estate taxes are going up, and utilities are outrageous (and they are also taxed beyond belief).
There are similar communities in our area who are growing and flourishing. New businesses are opening, schools are being built and the communities are thriving. Rolla, on the other hand, for all of the taxes, etc., does not grow, does not flourish, and taxes it's citizens more every year. Rolla is located right off of Interstate 44 in Missouri. Good location for businesses to relocate, wouldn't you think? It just doesn't happen, and from what I have scene in 9 years, it isn't going to happen as long as the local government "Cronies" are in charge.
Again, I am extremely disappointed with Rolla, MO. Would I recommend this community to others? NO! My recommendation would be Washington, MO, Lebanon, MO, Springfield, MO, or even Sullivan, MO, but unless some drastic changes are made, not Rolla.
