I grew up in this town, but left for cities (Boston, San Francisco, London) 23 years ago. I'm living here again, and beginning to appreciate this small town more than I did back then.
Westerly has a significant Italian-American Catholic population, has good beaches, and is a great place to be in the summertime. It does not yet have Starbucks and other large higher end coffee chains; this is the land of Dunkin' Donuts and Tim Hortons. Outside of the summer, it is a quiet place with limited nightlife. For those with families, it has the feel of somewhere safe.
