The Lake and Peninsula Borough of Alaska is located on the Alaska Peninsula, bounded by Bristol Bay on the east and the Bering Sea on the west. It covers an area of over 18,000 square miles and is home to a diverse landscape including rugged coastline, tundra, boreal forests and rivers. Its population is less than 3,000 people, but its rich culture includes Natives from five distinct cultures who share a rich history with each other. Fishing is the primary industry in this region and its commercial fishing fleets are among the largest in Alaska. The Lake and Peninsula Borough also offers stunning views of Mount Veniaminof, glaciers, lakes and rivers that provide recreational opportunities for visitors and residents alike.
