Sampson County, NC neighbors Duplin near Clinton metropolitan centre giving a 2020 estimated population standing of 63,478 making it the 58th most populous county located hereabouts. Its county seat is Clinton although other towns include Autryville & Harrells- Clinton itself equates out to Sampson's biggestcity aside from acknowledged country seat. This area had been created out of Duplin and New Hanover counties back in 1784 when local citizens petitioned for new administrative boundaries - posthumously named after John Sampson American politician who served as Colonial Official During Period George Washington .
