St. Cloud, located in Sherburne County, Minnesota is a city of around 67,000 people and is the center of politics for the county. The city utilizes a council-manager form of government where all members of the council are elected by the population to serve four year terms. Currently, George Hontos serves as mayor and other local political officials include Council Members Jeff Goerger, Carol Lewis, Mike Conway, John Libert, John Gunn and Dave Masterson. Recent city initiatives in St. Cloud have included improvements to the downtown area, increased public safety measures and financial transparency with new budgeting software. There has also been a focus on growing local businesses through tax incentives and creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
