Abbotts, NC is a small town with a population of just over 3,000 people. Even though it is small, Abbotts has its own political system and its own set of representatives. The local government consists of a mayor, four council members and various committees that are responsible for different aspects of the community such as public works, parks and recreation, education and economic development. All of these officials are elected by the citizens through a democratic process in which all registered voters can participate. In addition to this, Abbotts also has representation at the county level with many of its elected officials serving on boards within the larger county government. The residents of Abbotts take pride in their political system and have been known to be passionate about their local politics.
